MARCH 2011 - Mountain Dew Energy Success
Turn your head in a populous area of teenagers and you are bound to see many enjoying drinks from brightly coloured green bottles…Mountain Dew Energy has took the UK by storm and is at the forefront of Crown Cup's popular range of bottled products. It is thanks to our positive relationship with Britvic that has opened up marketing opportunities, such as sampling days for our customers that have encouraged greater success and popularity.
Mountain Dew Energy is a carbonated citrus energy drink that was successfully launched in May 2010, after thousands of people took part in a petition aiming to get Mountain Dew available in the UK. It has higher contents of caffeine than Mountain Dew sold in the U.S. and is sweetened with real sugar.
This temporarily aids mental alertness when feeling fatigued, being particularly popular with 16-24 year olds. Statistics show that the glucose stimulant market grew over 7 per cent from 2008 to 2009. It is for this reason and our awareness that different consumers have different
needs throughout the day, that we chose to offer what the consumer wants in Mountain Dew Energy. If you haven't tried it yet, what are you waiting for?!?
MARCH 2011 - New Coinage 2012
As proposed by the former Labour government, 5p and 10p coins are due to change in
the near future. They are currently made from an alloy called cupronickel (75% copper and 25% nickel), but will be made from steel with a nickel coating from 1st January 2012. This is estimated to save the Royal Mint between £7 million and £8 million per year, but will cost up to £100 million to implement the changes.
As the coins will be 11 per cent thicker, this will have a big impact on the vending industry and will potentially cost a total of £42 million to the industry.
To ensure there is no disruption to the service Crown Cup provide, we will be upgrading coin
mechanisms to accept these changes and so the switchover will happen smoothly.
